Tomlin says Dolphins aren’t lesser with Matt Moore at QB
PITTSBURGH 无毛视频� Whether it无毛视频檚 been Cleveland无毛视频檚 Cody Kessler or Indianapolis无毛视频� Scott Tolzien, the Steelers have feasted on backup quarterbacks during their seven-game winning streak.
They may face another when they host Miami on Sunday afternoon at Heinz Field in the AFC Wild Card, but Mike Tomlin said the Steelers aren无毛视频檛 about to underestimate Dolphins QB Matt Moore.
Keep in mind, this is a Steelers team that lost last season to Baltimore无毛视频檚 Ryan Mallett and probably should have lost last January to Cincinnati无毛视频檚 A.J. McCarron in the Wild Card.
The Dolphins have won nine of their last 11, but two of those wins have come with Moore under center. The 10-year veteran replaced Ryan Tannehill after the starter went down on Dec. 11 against Arizona with a Grade II MCL sprain and partially torn ACL. Though Tannehill said he无毛视频檇 like to play and is expected to test out his knee this week, it无毛视频檚 hard to see him playing just three weeks removed from suffering a serious knee injury.
In Tannehill无毛视频檚 place, Moore has completed 55 of 87 passes (67.2 percent) with eight TDs and three INTs for a fine 105.6 rating.
无毛视频淢oore is a case of one of those backups your really are concerned about because their experience belies their position,无毛视频� Tomlin said Tuesday during his weekly press conference.
Whether it无毛视频檚 Tannehill or Moore, Tomlin believes the Dolphins无毛视频� don无毛视频檛 do much differently on offense.
无毛视频淟argely I think their personality remains the same,无毛视频� Tomlin said. 无毛视频淚 think that无毛视频檚 often the case when you have a backup that无毛视频檚 more experienced than your starter. You want to be able to function in a fluid manner, have business as usual, and the presence of Matt Moore allows that for them.无毛视频�
When the Steelers last faced Miami on Oct. 16, Tannehill completed 23 of 32 for 252 with no interceptions and wasn无毛视频檛 sacked. Moore has been sacked just once in his three starts. That, Tomlin said, is a credit Miami无毛视频檚 offensive line, which has allowed just 30 sacks this season (ranked 23rd), and the scheme of offensive coordinator Clyde Christensen.
