John Anthony Gallis, Sr., 73, of Dunbar, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 22, 2026, in his home, with his loving family by his side.

He was born February 28, 1953, in Uniontown, a son of the late Frank A. Gallis, Sr. and Garnet E. Dancer Gallis.

John was a graduate of Laurel Highlands High School, Class of 1971, and was a member of St. Aloysius R.C. Church in Dunbar.

He owned and operated Gallis Construction for several years before becoming employed by Homes by Sturge. He later worked as a crane man for U.S. Steel until his retirement.

John was an avid hunter and a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Every Sunday during football season, family and friends would gather at his garage to watch the Steelers games together. Most importantly, John’s family was his entire world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Debra L. Hardy Gallis; his daughter, Dayna Self and husband Chris; his sons, John Gallis, Jr. and wife Amy, and Chad Gallis and wife Tabitha; along with 11 grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren, whom he adored; and his sister, Garnet E. Crossland and husband Kent.

Cremation arrangements are under the care and supervision of the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME, INC., 418 North Pittsburgh Street, Connellsville, PA 15425.

In accordance with John’s wishes, no visitation or services will be held.
