Bruce Douglas Ramsier, 73, of Perryopolis, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, with family by his side, after a long illness.

Bruce was born on February 11, 1951, to Paul and Gertrude Ramsier. He was the youngest of seven children and grew up very loved by all of them. At an early age, he took an interest in comic books and guitars that stayed with him his whole life. He played in many bands through the years and was rarely spotted in anything other than a Marvel Comics t-shirt.

In his adult years, Bruce also enjoyed attending church and fellowshipping with his community. He deemed himself “Gabby McFlabby” because he could have stayed all day talking with friends after services ended, as his family waited in the car.

There was nothing he treasured more than holidays and reunions spent with those he loved.

He was a proud Nittany Lion, graduating from Penn State University with a degree in Sociology. He was a dedicated case worker for the Fayette County Assistance Office for 26 years before retiring in 2013.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; his brother:s Mahlon, Gerald “Duke” and Rhys; and his sisters, Beverly and Delta Pearl.

He is survived by his wife, Laurene; his children, Jordan and Alanna; his brother, Robert and wife, Molly; and many nieces and nephews.

Bruce will be remembered fondly in a million different ways, but especially every time a good song plays on the radio, a thunderstorm rolls in, the Steelers win a game or joy is felt in the presence of friends and family.

A memorial service will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, at BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis.
