The motorcyclist who died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning in Georges Township has been identified.

Fayette County Coroner Dr. Bob Baker said Charles Plum, 17, of Lake Lynn, died from blunt force trauma injuries suffered in a crash with a box truck.

The crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Morgantown and Valley School roads, Fayette County dispatch said.

Plum was traveling at a high rate of speed on Morgantown Road when he collided with the truck driven by Irving Rice, 51, of Smithfield, state police said.

Plum was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to state police.

He was transported to WVU Medicine Uniontown Hospital, where he was declared dead around 9 a.m., the coroner’s office said. Rice, who refused transport, was uninjured in the crash, state police said.
