BULLSKIN TWP. ëƵ The second round of a three-day tournament is generally regarded to be ëƵmoving dayëƵ for positioning into the final round.

The second round Saturday at Pleasant Valley Golf Club was more like ëƵstay putëƵ day for Fred David with the Laurel Highlands graduate shooting 71 for the second straight day to sit atop the C. Harper Chevrolet Fayette County Open with a two-day score of 142.

David cashed in on the two par-5s with a pair of eagles. He also birdied No. 17, the noted island green.

ëƵBut, I had a couple dumb three-putts,ëƵ said David.

David was able to accomplish what he wanted to set up the third round.

ëƵI wanted to be around even or 1-under, so IëƵm okay with that,ëƵexplained David.

David noted what he needs to tighten up to be in position for his first county golf title.

ëƵI got to make putts again. IëƵm still not making any putts,ëƵ said David. ëƵIëƵm hitting a lot of greens. IëƵm just not giving myself (makable) putts.

ëƵIëƵm even for two days and I still havenëƵt made any putts.ëƵ

As for Pleasant ValleyëƵs conditions, David added, ëƵIt played tough, but it was fair.

Defending champion Jeremy Enslen made a move with an even-par 70, going out in 1-under and coming back 1-over. He sits alone in second place with a two-round total of 144.

ëƵI wanted to shoot under par. The pins were in difficult positions,ëƵ said Enslen. ëƵI couldnëƵt get the speed of the greens, but I made the 4-6 footers I needed for par.ëƵ

EnslenëƵs been in this spot before, so he understands the mindset needed to play the final round at Uniontown Country Club.

ëƵYou canëƵt get caught up with the groups,ëƵ said Enslen. ëƵYou have to play the course.

ëƵUniontown Country ClubëƵs defense is firm greens.ëƵ

Enslen added, ëƵMy honest opinion you have to break 70 at Uniontown. ItëƵs tough to get that first win. Fred has a lot of pressure on him.ëƵ

Unfortunately for Mike Revak, it was moving day in the wrong direction for the first round leader. Revak fired a 68 in FridayëƵs opening round at Duck Hollow Golf Club, but slipped down the leaderboard with 77 to sit in third place with 175.

Logan Voytish is alone in fourth place with a two-day total of 147. The recent Uniontown graduate shot 73 in the second round.

ëƵIt was very bumpy, borderline off-roading,ëƵ described Voytish. ëƵMy irons werenëƵt the sharpest.

ëƵThe par-3s hurt me a little bit. I played them 1-over.ëƵ

Voytish birdied both par-5s with an eagle putt on No. 7. Voytish had three birdies in the first five holes on the back, but a wayward tee shot on No. 14 into the creek eventually led to a triple bogey.

Voytish seeks to keep his solid play on the greens over the final 18 holes.

ëƵMy putting is really good now. IëƵm real happy with that,ëƵ said Voytish.

Santino Marchitello sits at 148 with rounds of 73 and 75. Matt Carpeal opened with 72, but slipped in the second round with 77 for a two-round total of 149.

Pleasant Valley Golf Club is the home course for the Connellsville boys golf team and Falcon Ethan Porreca appreciated the home cookinëƵ to fire 73 for one of the better rounds in the entire field of over 100 golfers

Porreca has a two-day total of 150 to sit atop the juniors leaderboard. Albert GallatinëƵs Caeden Williams is second with 160 (79-81) and UniontownëƵs Trevor Uphold is third with 167 (84-83).
