Carmichaels man charged with taking money, not performing work

By Zach Petroff 1 min read

A Carmichaels man accused of accepting money for driveway repair work he did not do is facing additional charges after more customers came forward with similar allegations.

According to police, since August, a total of 15 people have come forward accusing Brian Kozy, 41, of accepting deposits for work that he didn’t complete through his business Seal-Rite.

Allegations from seven of those customers in Fayette County were laid out in a complaint filed Tuesday. A complaint filed last month included eight other alleged victims from Fayette.

In both complaints, police indicated the alleged victims tried several times to speak with Kozy. When they did talk to him, police alleged, Kozy still did not complete the work.

The complaint filed Tuesday alleged Kozy stole $2,600 from the seven alleged victims. The complaint filed last month alleged he stole $1,500 from those eight people.

Between the two complaints, Kozy faces a total of 45 charges, including several counts of theft, and receiving advance payment for services that were not performed.

Kozy is currently out on $7,500 bond in the first case and is awaiting to be arraigned on the new set of charges before Fayette County District Judge Nathan Henning.
