Redstone Township man arrested in alleged kidnapping

State police arrested a Redstone Township man Thursday after he allegedly refused to allow his wife to leave home for about a week.
Matthew Kiscaden, 48, faces felony charges of kidnapping and strangulation. According to the criminal complaint, police were called to his North Street home shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday.
Kiscaden’s wife told officers she came to the house on May 30 and that he pulled her inside and locked the door.
According to charging documents, anytime she tried to leave Kiscaden would use physical force to stop her. Kiscaden is accused of choking his wife and threatening her life.
Kiscaden also faces a misdemeanor simple assault charge. He was arraigned Thursday night before District Judge Daniel Shimshock, who sent him to the Fayette County jail without bond. According to online court records, bond was denied due to the court believing Kiscaden is a threat to himself and others.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. June 18.
