Two charged in assault of Waynesburg teenager
State police arrested two people in connection with the assault of a Waynesburg teenager in the Walmart parking lot in Franklin Township.
Chase Frameli, 19, of Clarksville, and Ian Bogumit, 18, of Mather, each face a felony charge of aggravated assault.
According to state police, the incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m. Monday in the Walmart lot at 405 Murtha Drive.
Police interviewed several witnesses and obtained a cellphone video capturing the assault. While wearing a black ski mask, Frameli is accused of punching the 16-year-old and putting him in a chokehold for about 45 seconds. Police said Bogumit stood by and encouraged Frameli to “keep going.”
Both Frameli and Bogumit were arraigned Thursday before District Judge Thomas Ankrom. Both were released after posting a portion of their $20,000 bonds.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. June 17.
